A
Dead Man’s Greatest Need
Many have been told that if they will just
“come to Christ” they will be saved. The sad reality is that
while all are responsible to bow before God, people don’t
naturally have the desire or ability. Salvation is not a
do-it-yourself kit. It is a work of God from start to finish.
The Bible describes us in our human nature as blind, hardened,
dead in sin¸
and in love with darkness. Would you offer a dead man medicine?
Would glasses aid a blind man? This is how serious the human
plight is. What is the answer? The sovereign grace of God. He
alone can change a person’s heart and show them the beauty of
His Son, enabling them to come to Christ. Has he done this for
you?

Are
Your Bills Paid?
The Bible frequently uses economic language
to describe the need of man and the provision of God. Every sin
we commit against God requires a payment to His justice. Imagine
receiving a bill from Heaven for every lie, selfish act, evil
thought, prideful motive, and so on. We would all have quite a
stack! The pressure of financial debt can be incredibly
stressful. Consider how much more significant it is to be
in debt to God. So,
what does a sinner do? Does he try to buy off God? No, the
solution is Jesus Christ. He voluntarily became responsible for
the debts of His people and paid them off on the Cross. Jesus
paid it all! Do you have the pressure of being in debt to God or
are you paid in full?

Don’t Look in the Graveyard!
“He is risen!” is the claim of
Christianity. The veracity of the Christian faith hinges on the
truth of Jesus’ Resurrection. If He did not rise from the dead,
He can be chalked up as just another radical, religious teacher.
Opponents to Jesus have come up with ludicrous theories in
attempting to deny the Resurrection. One such is that the
apostles secretly concocted this idea of Resurrection and then
publicized it. But what was in such a plan for the apostles?
History records that all of them, except John, died a martyr’s
death. They were persecuted and imprisoned because they wouldn’t
shut up about Jesus! Some people may very well die for a lie.
But who would die for what
they know to be a
lie? It doesn’t add up. The apostles were right…He is risen!

Don’t Stand on Your Own Two Feet!
Some independence is good. The American
dream has been realized by people who have worked hard,
persevered through challenges, and haven’t looked to someone
else for their own success. This is good for the American dream.
It’s not a good attitude to take before God. No matter how good
someone’s life appears, all are guilty before God. Everybody has
told a lie. Everybody has had a filthy thought. To be accepted
with God, you have to be perfect. None of us measure up.
Is there a solution? Jesus Christ came to earth
representing His people. He never sinned; He kept God’s law
perfectly. Furthermore, He canceled out their sins by His death
on the Cross. God accepts these people. They don’t stand on
their own two feet. They stand on the work of Jesus. Where do
you stand?

In
Man We Trust?
This is a failed philosophy! To solve the
problems of the world, many look to government for more
programs, more spending, more control. “Education is the
answer,” some claim. In reality, throwing more and more billions
of dollars into our educational system has reaped embarrassing
results. The history of humanity has been that of looking to
ourselves to fix ourselves. What is the solution? In God we
trust! The ultimate human problem is sin, and God is the one and
only solution to that. What do you build your life upon? The
philosophies of people with a long title? The TV experts?
Building your life on the eternal God and His holy Word is a
rock solid foundation. Ask yourself, “What do I trust”? We
confidently point you to Jesus Christ.

This Man Receiveth Sinners!
This man Jesus, who receives sinners, is
also God and happens to be perfect. He hates sin, having no
fellowship with it, but is at the same time full of mercy. He
has a compassionate heart for sinners who find their anti-God
lifestyle destroying them. He receives sinners! He promises that
a sincerely sorrowful sinner who comes to Him for mercy will not
be rejected (John 6:37). No one can say, “I’ve sinned too much
or been too bad to ask for His mercy.” Jesus had mercy on a
thief and murderer, an adulterous woman, prostitutes,
homosexuals, corrupt government officials, self-righteous
religionists, social outcasts, and the preacher who is writing
this message. Are you a sinner needing mercy? We point you to
Jesus.
