What is the Big Lie? The big lie starts by telling
women that being a mother is either beneath her dignity or is
inferior to her career choices.
It is modern society's philosophy that a woman is 'above'
being a mother and a home maker. That lie is reinforced with
yet another lie that being a home maker (keeper at home) is a waste
of her intelligence and talents.
If the career women of
today realized that (from God's perspective) they are wasting their
time,
intelligence and talents trying to do work (so called men's work)
for which they were never created they would turn away from the
religious humanism that dominates our culture. God has designed
women to be busy doing things far, far more important
than trying to "prove" they can do anything a man can do.
God has designed women to find fulfillment in spiritual ways which
are far superior to a career. God has designed women to be busy doing things
much more
important than chasing the "almighty dollar". Only God is
almighty, the dollar and all the things it can purchase will perish
when "the elements shall melt with fervent heat ... and
the works that are therein shall be burned up."
2Pe 3:10 Christians have far more important things to be
concerned about than the world's materialism.
It is a matter of fact that modern society puts down motherhood. But
motherhood is unquestionably one of the greatest and most important
jobs in the world. Although the world has fostered the lie that
choosing to be a mother and a home maker is beneath the dignity of a
modern woman, God's word says that being a mother and a home
maker is that which gives a woman her dignity.
Consider Genesis 3:20, And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because
she was the mother of all living. Adam was certainly an
important contributor to his family's welfare but he is never called
the father of all living. That honor is reserved for Eve, the
mother of all living. Humanity could not survive without women
who are willing to rear the next generation of human beings.
As humans, we instinctively place a high degree of importance on the
value of human life. If we compare the value of nourishing a human life with a
career, which is truly more valuable? If we compare the value of
great success in the business world with the significance of molding
and shaping a child into a responsible adult, which is truly more valuable?
God has given a great privilege to women despite the philosophy of
our twisted modern world. 1Timothy 2:15 states,
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if [she]
continues in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
This saving is one of honor and virtue. This particular
application of "saved" is never applied to men. It is applied
only to women because God honors their role in bearing children.
Our Saviour was born into the world without an earthly father but he
could not be born without a human mother. Consider then how
important the role of a mother is! Hear the words of Mary who
said, "My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in
God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his
handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call
me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great
things; and holy is his name."
Lu 1:46-49 God chose a woman, not a man, to bring our Saviour
into the world, thus demonstrating the significance our Lord places
upon motherhood.
